Metro State-Specific Terms

Referring to the College

In the first reference for external publications, use Metropolitan State College of Denver. Following the first reference, use Metro State. When writing for an internal audience, such as students, alumni or faculty, Metro State College or Metro State is acceptable in the first and subsequent references. Never use "the" Metropolitan State College of Denver. Under no circumstances should the acronym MSCD be used in copy when referring to the College. The only appropriate usage of MSCD is when listing a College Web site or e-mail address. Capitalize the word "college" when it stands alone in reference to Metro State.

Example: The College is in Denver. The College has 21,000 students.

Use lowercase when the term is used in a generic sense, as in: one of the questions facing every college.
