Metro State offers you plenty of opportunities to satisfy your inner sports fan. Attend our weeklong homecoming celebration featuring men’s and women’s basketball games, cheer on the national-champion women’s soccer team or drop in on various tournaments.

We’re proud to say that our athletes have some of the highest graduation rates in the country. For example, 92% of our men’s basketball team players graduate, compared to the NCAA average of 43%. Our student-athletes also participate regularly in community service projects.

Student-athletes at Metro State have built a tradition of success in college athletics. The celebration of their achievement grows each year. Since 2000, Metro’s ten teams boast the following accomplishments:

  • 3 NCAA championships
  • 20 conference tournament championships
  • 21 NCAA tournament appearances
  • 25 athletes named All Americans

MEN’S SPORTS – baseball, basketball, cross- country, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track

WOMEN’S SPORTS – basketball, cross-country, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track, volleyball and in fall 2007, women’s softball returns to Metro State!

Recent Highlights:

Women’s soccer – National champions in 2004, earning Colorado’s first-ever collegiate soccer championship. Four consecutive RMAC titles and Midwest Regional championship for the third-straight year. An incredible four-season record of 88-5-5.

Men’s basketball – Nine consecutive NCAA tournament bids. 2005 conference and regional champs. National champions in 2000 and 2002.

Women’s basketball – Won the RMAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament in 2004-05.

Men’s soccer – Won the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award.

Men/Women’s Cross-Country – Squads began competition in fall 2005. Men finished ninth in the region during first season of competition.

Men’s tennis – Advanced to the NCAA tournament in 2006 after finishing second in the RMAC.

Women’s volleyball – Six consecutive bids to the NCAA tournament. Advanced to the RMAC tournament championship match in 2005.

Men’s baseball – Advanced to the RMAC tournament in 2006 after finishing fourth during the regular season.
